In many process engineering applications, highly sensitive or hazardous substances and the requirement to keep the environment particularly clean necessitate the use of rupture discs with reliable rupture monitoring. Especially in such cases, these pressure protection systems must prevent the medium from escaping or volatilising even after the bursting disc has responded. The SVT PM magnetic burst indicator for metallic bursting discs was developed precisely for such cases. The STRIKO burst indicator is characterised by its simple handling and technical advantages. The SVT PM / SVT PM-Z completes the range of STRIKO rupture monitoring devices for bursting discs.
Magnetic rupture monitoring for maximum flexibility
The STRIKO SVT PM / SVT PM-Z burst indicator can be combined as a stand-alone component with almost all STRIKO metal bursting discs. For this purpose, the SVT PM is installed on the blow-off side directly behind the rupture disc in the STRIKO holders SHF-M, SHZ-M, SHU-M (also Pro version).
The independence of the SVT PM burst indicator from the rupture disc to form a stand-alone component ensures unprecedented flexibility in your application. The SVT PM can be easily retrofitted, replaced and – if necessary – subjected to a visual inspection. Replacement after the rupture disc has responded does not require any rewiring of electrical cables. If installed upstream of a safety valve, it is not necessary to remove the SVT PM for the function test of the safety valve, as it is independent of back pressure. Corrosion-resistant materials allow it to be used even with aggressive media. Highly volatile or highly toxic media can no longer escape through through-holes or porous seals thanks to the threaded blind hole for the magnetic field sensor – even if the combined rupture disc responds. This ensures the safety of personnel, the environment and systems and is also easy on your budget.

Note on ATEX:
All STRIKO alarm devices / leakage detectors are so-called ‘simple electrical equipment’ in terms of the type of protection intrinsic safety ‘i’ if they are connected to an intrinsically safe circuit. The requirements for ‘simple electrical equipment’ are dealt with in section 5.7 of the standards EN 60079-11:2012 and IEC 60079-11 Ed. 6:2011-06 ‘Explosive atmospheres – Part 11: Equipment protection by intrinsic safety ’i‘’.
Simple electrical equipment designed in accordance with the requirements of section 5.7 of EN 60079-11:2012 and IEC 60079-11:2011 and section 16.4 of EN 60079-14: 2014 and IEC 60079-14 Ed. 5: 2013-11 ‘Explosive atmospheres – Part 14: Electrical installations design, selection and erection’ need not be certified (see section 4.4.2 of EN 60079-14: 2014 and IEC 60079-14 Ed. 5: 2013-11).
Such parts also do not fall under the scope of Directive 94/9/EC, as they do not have their own potential ignition source. The labelling of simple equipment can be carried out by any person/institution, including the manufacturer or the installer, and can be carried out using a freely selectable designation marking or coding that is preferred for the system.
