Laminar Flow
Laminar flow refers to a type of flow in which a fluid moves in orderly, parallel layers. There is only minimal mass transfer between the individual flow layers. In contrast to turbulent flow, no significant vortices occur. This flow condition is influenced, among other factors, by the Reynolds number, viscosity, flow velocity, and the geometry of the flow system. For STRIKO Process Engineering, the distinction between laminar and turbulent flow is particularly important in the design of static mixers and heat exchangers, as it significantly affects mixing behavior, heat transfer, and pressure drop.
