Kr value

The K values describe the flow resistance of individual components of a pipe system – from bends and T-pieces to bursting discs, for example. By adding up the values, the total resistance can be determined, which is crucial for calculating the flow capacity of a system.

A distinction is made depending on the medium:

Krg for gas flows
Krl for liquid flows
Krgl for both states, provided the Kr value is identical

The Kr value of the bursting disc is only a small component in the overall flow resistance of a piping system and generally plays a subordinate role in the overall system. Other components such as nozzles, T-pieces and bends make a larger contribution to the total K-values.
